sitting here watching loads of fights on a daily basis is the norm for myself, the last few weeks ive spent a lot of time watching baukaw fight not that I haven't in the past but I spent a lot watching him , the guy is 5,8 and a bit making him qiet short compared to other fighters , most guys being 5,10 + inches in the k1 circuits yet he seems to negate the reach advantage of all of his opponents so well ?? his guard is fantastic but what else does he do in ur opinion ?
first of all his name is BUAkaw, not baukaw :-)
if you think he is short then look at zambidi, he is really short and even gives jumping knees into people.
Buakaw doens't do anything special imo he just kicks hard.
hasn't fought anyone world class for years
Lost a lot of respect for him since the good old k-1 days.
he's just getting older....
at the time when he was fighting Masato he was great.
as was Masato
Epic workrate too
what else he DID, imo? back in the days, arround 2006: he kicked a lot. more then the Others.
he used many Muay Thai skills in the k-1, and they did change the rules because what we, the fans
loved, wasnt liked in japan, with most japanese kickboxers getting owned by buakaw .....
now hes older, he is free, and he can pick the promotions and the opponents he wants to fight.
Agree that it's just a case of getting older, also there's not a foreigner on the scene at the moment to push him IMO, apart from Toby Smith ( where is he btw, has he stopped fighting).
I think theres a lot more to him than just kicking hard and a lot. His timing and measuring distance are both excellent. Watch his fight against Enriko Kehl, I think it's from 2013. Kehl is really good and unorthodox yet Buakaw was able to read him with ease. IMO Buakaw is most definately special.
Thai people love him and he is likely the only Muaythai fighter that westerners not involved in the sport would have heard of. Id love to see him fight Yodsanklai but that's never going to happen, even if they were both free agents. I think he'd beat Kem though, probably the next best "big" Thai???
they have been talking about Yod wanting to fight Buakaw since 2009,
it is the same as with Pacquiao and Mayweather, it will not happen and if it will happen it will be to late.
I wish Buakaw would have fought more Thai s so we could see wht he is really worth but he was stuck with k1max
Ya its a shame really, I wonder how long they'll stay at it. Neither of them have taken a solid shot in around 5 years so there's probably plenty in the tank in that regards.
I remember watching those K1 shows 9-10 years ago on Eurosport and they were sick, pity K1 went to complete and utter shit. Sorry, getting off the point. Did Pornsanae and yodsanklai used to be at the same weight and fight in Lumpinee when they were younger, I remember hearing that but I couldn't find anything on the Internet?
Yeh they fought more than once both won by Ko against each other, not seen the fight when Porsaneh won but saw the one where Yod koed him with a high kick
what abuot buakaw, Rob. do you remember him when he was Young and
regular at Omnoi and Lumpini?
Is he turning into a dick or is it just show for the camera.?
for what I ve read a Thai university is busy working on his strength/fitness training, they developed a whole program for him. That is probably what you are seeing
Yeah they discovered the first secret formula of olympic sports.... scientific approach to training
took them pretty long, could have asked Tenchu
Baukaw should see some Angel Heredia type of guy, helping him rejuvenate his career
what gym in the video above is bukaw training at?
