Holland And Thailand

Hey guys, I will be travelling to Holland to train in amsterdam for a few days before making my way to the land of smiles.
My question is for anyone with info on training in amsterdam. Im staying for 5 days and plan on training at mikes gym and mejiro gym. Can anyone help with accomodations that are close to downtown and these gyms, I know mikes gym is farther from downtown but all hotels seem expensive. Other then that, any info on training and hanging out in amsterdam would be appreciated.

Bring a good head guard

try to find a room on airbnb, it will be much cheaper

doesn't Mikes provide accomodation?

What type of hotel you looking for I can name you many need to know your budget and type first.

I actually don't understand why you would waste your time and money to train in Holland if you are going to Thailand anyway.
Accomodations will be to expensive and you ebtter save that money for in LOS.

I think there are other attractions the guy is interested in, I know for sure I will go Amsterdam for a few days this year with Kickboxing as my excuse lol

if you are talking about the red light district, Amsterdam is just nothing compared to how it used to be. Brussels is way bigger, Antwerp is way cleaner

Do they have the herb as well though?

They have but not legally :-)

i get annoyed by the smell of it when walking in the touristic area of Amsterdam, hate stoners.

Brussells is indeed awesome, and only 2 hours on the Eurostar from London for those of us in England....

I paid something like 180pound for two nights in a hotel and return Eurostar travel for two nights in Brussells.... left Coventry at 6am and by 11am local time in was in a bar in the city centre....

Highly recommended.... although I would love to get across to Antwerp next time.

Petecc, I lived in Brussels for 7 years and still go there twice a week for work. Actually I am in Brussels right now.
But even when I lived in Brussels I always prefered Antwerp to go out.
I often went to Antwerp alone, entered a bar and immediatly made friends to hang out with for the rest of the night.
This never happened in Brussels.
What I also like about Antwerp is the many Thai bars and restaurants.

I had planned to visit Antwerp and Gent, but I met a French girl from Bolougne on the train and ended up staying with her for the weekend in Brussels...

Antwerp does look awesome for nightlife. Still enjoyed Brussels though.... anything is better than my home city in England...!

Although I did get in an argument on the way back to Brussels Midi station with an Arab guy, and he took his chances and punched me in the face.... when I laughed at him he decided it was a bad idea and ran away...

I take the train every weekend at Brussels Midi and every month I see at least 1 sack snatching or fight. It really is a shit place.
Have to wait an hour for my train tonight at 23h00, will be fun again...

Did he hit you or did he miss? I would have hit back so he would have learned his lesson,
a month or 2 ago I middle kicked one when I i saw him running after a cellphone snatch

he hit me smack in the middle of the face, I was carrying a heavy bag in each hand..... to be honest I was pretty hungover and tired, and he was about 20kg lighter than me so I just let it go, as I had train to catch...

there's a bar right outside midi station, just across the road, I thought was ok while waiting for a train..... but like you say, that area is pretty bad....

Not on about the red light, i'm on about the herb, Dam is super expensive though thats the only thing that sucks.

Dutch kickboxing, beautiful!!

Someone once wrote here that he loved k1 but enjoyed training in Thai land. Well, me too. Enjoy in holland, superb place to get the best of k1 and KB.

Japan must be nice to train also, especially Silver Wolf Gym

Kickboxing in Holland is insane, there leg kicks are second to none

i think in Holland they trai nthe same way as in Belgium or france, just a lot of combos. and repeating then for a full round ( jab hoob, uppercut low kick middle kick style of combinations)

minr that type of excuse made MT Big in Thailand
take away the cheap sex
One third of the gyms will close immediately

i hate the Dutch style, very rare you will find proper knees and elbows and clinch being taught.

Agree with elbows and clinch, not with knees.

yeh ok they do have good straight knees because of Kyokushin
but no tying up knee clinch due to everyone training for k1 rules!

to be honest, MT doesn't exist in Europe ( aside from France maybe) it is just k1 named Muay Thai

some very technical french , moroccans and british guys to be fair, have a good MT style

Given the simple mechanics of MT europe is poor

The dutch style is mostly traditional Kickboxing, here in UK we have quite a lot of Muay Thai camps that try to teach the traditional Thai way, in Netherlands they try to overcomplicate it and as someone said before throw crazy combos and leg kicks they forget other key elements.

French and English Muay Thai is good.

dutch is kickboxing.

but there are concepts and techniques to be stolen from it to improve your muaythai.
