Muaythai World ChampionshipS
Whats going on? There are 3 federations from here, sending teams to Muay Thai worldchampionships in Bangkok at the same time.
one Muay Thai world Championship is under WMF and is going on at Lumpinee
another one is the Muaythai University World Cup its under IFMA and FISU and taking place at the national stadium
the 3rd one is under WMO and is inAyutthaya and called the 1st Muay Boran world Championship
all the teams are in Thailand, all the competition started already. I see hundreds of new "world Champions" coming back to europe at the end of the month.
is anyone here in Bangkok at the moment and attending? is anyone taking part? do you have news and opinions?
Im in Bangkok :P but I doubt I will be attending!
every gym I trained at in Belgium had a "world champion" as a trainer and at least 1 European champion training...
not really when there is that many titles out there and most not worth a shit
exactly, I would enjoy seeing one of those world champions getting their ass beaten by Saenchai :-)
thats my opinion too. ;-)
the IFMA is well known to make a big world Championship, with well over 100 nations
and over 1000 athletes competing.
the WMF used to be just a little bit smaller, but still nice competition and a challenge to get
WMO .... Muay Boran what the f.... s that? I mean theres the IMBA already making Muaythai
without gloves (sort of kyokushinkai karate with lots of clinching) and they used to have their
own world championships
and FISU, thats the federation for university sports, but I doubt the athletes at the national stadium
in theese days are all students ....
it is good for Thailand. with the military governement and european tourism down, at least there are
a lot of farang nak muays bringing some satang there.
it is not so good for the sport, sort of hyper inflation of world champ titles .....
Rob, dont you go to Lumpinee to see some finals?
anyone involved on this forum?
no way, I see more than enough fights each week in the regular stadium shows, Max Muaythai etc… the whole Muay Thai amateur scene doesn't interest me and I don't really agree with how it works either to be honest.
