The Real Dark Side Of Muay
just saw the final at the max Muay Thai tournament and wanted to know what you guys think about it.
fair enough, he knew the rules when he went in. cant/shouldnt win via a foul
Had it been the other way around I doubt it would have gone the same way. That sort of thing happens regularly enough, someone gets swept and kneed in the head on the ground, even in Lumpini and Raja you'll see lads getting volleyed in the head on the ground and there's never a complaint. Yes I'm aware he carried him across the ring first which is also a foul and you are allowed to strike as the opponent is on the way down
Absolutely absurd. There's still plenty of ploughing at the stadiums at the Thai wasn't even injured as he was happy to get up once the decision was made.
The Thai kicked his nuts all fight too. Yes, the thigh teep and the hip teep are legitimate targets and techniques, but he was kicking his balls from Round 1.
End of the day it's Thailand though. Full of corruption, hypocrisy, xenophobia and double standards. The outcome doesn't surprise me in that respect although all the officials should feel like the filthy animals they are for it.
Can't really see how it's the dark side to be honest! It was a clear foul and Youssef has been in game long enough to know better.. You don't see anyone ploughing like that very y often now as refs usually are on top of it and stop it before it gets going, the ref had already stopped Youssef at least once for it too, saying that the ref messed up with the final one. His opponent also looked like he played for it maybe, having being stopped by Youssef on an earlier Max show he knew it was tough task to win. The ref didn't know what to do at first and looked over to the main judge with a what the fuck do I do now look on his face and the head judge pointed out it was a foul, probably would have been better with so much at stake to give Kanongsuk time to recover and fight on,but in heat of moment it was called a foul and you can't really complain otherwise as it clearly was, if Youssef didn't run him across the ring he most likely would have won and gone through to the final and I would have bet my house he would have won that too, but ultimately he clearly fouled and can't really blame anyone else
I remember that guy, he trained at Belgiums top MT gym and moved to Thailand when he was still quit young ( 18 years old or so) to work in a cellphone shop and train MT with his friend as a padholder. I never would have guessed he would fight at such a high level..
Youssef is very good one of the best foreign fighters out there, got a lot of experience at top level now and has a gym in Pattaya
he owns a gm or trains at a gym?
He has his own gym in Pattaya Petsaman
when will the Kiatphontip Gym in Chiang Mai or Phuket open :-)
Don't hold your breathe! :P
